WordPress Web Design for Depoy Studios in Phoenix

This photographer needed a website designed to match her brand. It needed a dark color, so as to emphasize the vivid color in the pictures. the website had to be built on a content management system that was both user friendly and easy to optimize for search engines. Having educated herself on the many CMS programs out there, Cristina Depoy and her business partner had come to the conclusion that WordPress was the platform she wanted to build on.

This was a wise choice, and we went in and set up features that were perfect for a photographer: we did custom galleries using nextgen gallery so that the photos displayed in very attractive, scrollable lightboxes. We made the blog functions integrate with the front page content, so new shoots would be front and center and ready for prospective clients to peruse. The website was using a lot of jquery, as well as html, CSS and PHP. It is a mobile responsive site, and adapts to the viewport in which it is being viewed. Being a arizona web designer and developer, I knew that we needed the site to load as quickly as possibly and have a UI that was clean and easy to use, so we created dropdown menus for the desktop site and a jquery menu for the mobile site.

SEO in AZ was also a big concern for this client. Being a local business, they needed to be found for their products and services, and they needed a strategy to grow their online presence. I assisted with basic search advice and coaching, setting up SEO plugins and instructing the team at Depoy Studios on their use, as well as working with the owners to come up with productive blog strategy focused on capturing long tail and high value search while still appearing natural and not spammy.
